A painter and designer, Hull studied architectural design before the Second World War. Serving in the military 1939-46, Hull had his first solo exhibition at the Brook Street Gallery in 1949. From 1952 he began to exhibit in Paris and New York, as well as in London. In the late 1950s Hull transitioned back into architecture and worked as a design consultant until his death.
